Indeed. I did lots of shovelling out of snowpiles while up there - assisting the piled up snow to melt by spreading it out.

The sooner it melts, the sooner the daffodils :) Usually there is three weeks to a month difference between bloomings between there and here - it might be a bit longer this year...

Daffodils? One of my favourite pet theories is that no human being can possibly be unhappy when surrounded by daffodils. Forget about Valium or whatever it is you're supposed to take for depression. Just buy a bunch of daffodils. :)

Couldn't agree more. They are the singularly most cheerful flowers anywhere. I lament the lack of them in Tokyo. It might be time for me to do some guerrilla gardening...

When my research group went to Rikuzen Takata, we took daffodil bulbs as omiyage.
