Sydney's just not ready for manners Japan style

This is a chef in Syndey, Yukako Ichikawa who has a restaurant Wafu. She would be a perfect person to be organizing Japanese "setsuden" (electricity savings).   She's just shut her restaurant, aghast with Sydney diners and their lack of respect for food and dining.   She IS eccentric, but it's Sydney's loss.

Oh, but ... aren't these rules pretty ordinary, generally polite and universally applicable?

Or rather, in an ideal world they would be. Sigh.

I think I like this woman! ;)

I like her too, though I can imagine her dedication to the cause might get a little wearing sometimes, but you're right the principles are pretty common sense manners.

I'm not sure why people are so uncomfortable being reminded that in a world with a lot of hunger, excessive eating is crass and vulgar.
