I spoke too soon. It was soon followed by another big earthquake in NZ and then more here.
I am not impressed to see Yamanashi turning up on here.
Yamanashi is where Mt Fuji is and Mt Fuji is dormant, not extinct.
The last eruption was in the early 1700s.
With a list of tremors like this for a day, one would hope that there is major research into tapping seismic energy...

Yup, it was enough to make me restock my emergency rucksack. I have a complex relationship with that rucksack: it makes me feel like a paranoid neurotic, but common sense dictates that it might be prudent ...
We're so lame we don't have one. We used to but it was mostly chocolate and I just used to eat it and replace it and then I decided in the interests of good health, perhaps I had developed enough of a spare tyre to be able to cruise on that for a couple of weeks in the event of an earthquake.
After reading an email the other day, I wondered for a moment about putting baked beans into it...and then snapped back to reality.
I don't keep the bathtub filled...
What food do you keep in yours?
SOYJOY (light) and nuts (ditto) and half a liter of water. Just enough for one day.
Also warm clothes, torch, battery recharger for smartphone. No toiletries. I keep telling myself I should add at least a toothbrush, but I'm sure I'll worry about other things than dog breath!
No chocolate (same reason as you: I'll just eat it), no water in the bathtub, no towers of canned tuna in the cupboard.
I have the basics in my emergency backpack: water, flashlight, toilet paper, books, paper, and pens. I figure if I have to hang around an evacuation center for a few days or more I must have something to read, or pretend to read, very important. No food, a disaster is the perfect time to start a nice cleansing fast, like when you get the flu.
Theresa, your comment made me gasp aloud. I don't have anything to read in my bag! What a gross stupid terrifying oversight! (Hits self on head several times.) Thanks for that reminder!
