The other day I took a bag of old clothes to the local govt. office where there is a clothes collection point. Putting them in the cages, I felt remiss for not having had a "thanks to the clothes" ceremony. It's a Shinto thing - thanks to the needles day at the clothes factories. No needles, no clothes, so let's be appreciative of the broken needles. It used to seem a bit quaint, but it makes a lot of sense. A reminder to self - appreciate what I have, and only aquire things I really need.

I haven't bought new clothes in two years. Maybe more.
Books? Well. Yes. Err ...
Many of my clothes here I have had since I arrived. Fashion's not really my thing... Two types for me - things that are so conservative they are never either in or out, or things that are so not conservative that they are never in or out :)
