Plans to motor bike to the beach went astray with the bike having a flat battery. Hiro shakes his head in dismay at the bike and wonders how he was ever seduced by the darkside - buying an American bike rather than a Japanese one. It's not the most reliable piece of machinery ever... but never mind...
We ended up at the bike shop rather than the beach. But, there was a definite upside - I finally got to see the retro all green Yamanote line train. The Yamanote line has been a "limey green" since 1963 - the train below is a 50 years commemorative train.
Better than the beach!

"Wonders how he was ever seduced by the darkside." That made me LOL. So what's his opinion about non-Japanese wives? They also get flat batteries? :p
Where's that train? Why haven't I seen it yet? Sulk.
I think there is only one of them. Maybe two - one in each direction. If you sit at a Yamanote line station long enough you will see it - I presume you will have to wait less than an hour. It was sheer luck that we caught it. I've been hanging out to see it for aaaaaaaaaaaaages.
I could wait for an hour - JR stations have free WiFi - but then Nelson's battery would also be flat. (Nelson is the new phone. His full name is Horatio Nelson Mandela.)
Very apt!
I am very very very unimpressed with the iphone's lack of battery life... it will never survive a day of seishun 18. I'll be lucky to get out of Northern Tohoku on it...
sigh...
Pathetic would be more to the point than apt...
